A good list of colors which, with their combinations, are sufficient for all purposes, is the following:
Yellows. (Sliver White, Yellow Ochre, Light Cadmium, Medium Cadmium, Orange Cadmium.)
Reds. (Vermilion, Light Red, Indian Red, Burnt Sienna, Madder Lake.)
Blues. (Permanent Blue, Cobalt, Antwerp Blue.)
Greens. (Terre Verte, Light Zinober Green, Raw Umber, Bone Brown. Ivory Black.)
